
The pair, who were selected from a shortlist of young hopefuls, will spend three months at the highly regarded Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy in Adelaide honing their skills for what is another season filled with opportunity for both players.
Chalmers will be keen to push his way back into the Scotland squad after a frustrating year for the 22 year old Watsonains player in 2011 after scoring 100 at Lords against the MCC at the start of the season..
Arbroath youngster McLean will be preparing for the Scotland Under 19 tour to South Africa at the end of March and looking to cement a place in the squad for the Under 19 Cricket World Cup in Queensland, Australia in August 2012.
Cricket Scotland continues to be indebted to former Sussex and Scotland batsman, Terry Racionzer for his generous support. Cricket Scotland’s Head of Performance Andy Tennant said “Without Terry’s support these overseas placements would not happen and they are a vital part of the ongoing development of our best young players. They will undoubtedly benefit from spending the next three months training and playing against high quality young professional cricketers in an excellent performance environment.”
